Launched from Gorietta Bay (Coronado, CA) at 0330 and arrived at the "Cross" (32.00 x 118.00, about 65 miles SW from San Diego into Mexican water) around 0700. All heck broke loose while fishing a kelp paddy when Albies started boiling all around us. Then the chinese fire drill began. Crazy stuff!

11 Albies
7 Yellow Tails

We travelled 181 total miles and burned around 77 gallons.

WTG Damon.

Made it out to the 390 on the 1st and it was wide open stupid fishing. These are some of the best grade of albacore I've seen in years. Unfortunately it looks like they pushed offshore and north already. Reports from the last few days are terrible. Bright side is the water is still warming and we should be getting into yellowfin and dodo's soon. BTW nailed a yellowtail that bottomed out my 50 lb scale on the 1st along with limits of 25-35 lb albacore.

After all the time you've put into that boat I'll bet you were grinn'n ear to ear with the bloody decks.

The decks were very bloody, but the wet ride back in sure did clean the boat well. Still need to clean the few areas where the water missed.

The Smartrails on the chine DOES NOT work in the open ocean slop. I'll probably post the results of these in the General Conversation forum.

Let me know if you want to buddy boat this Friday. I hope things pick back up by then. I was out of town when the Albie bite got very hot....
