David:

Could you please provide a little more information on the B&G monitoring system you have. It sounds interesting and something I may want to consider installing in my Shamrock.

Thanks

Matt

My name is Art.

As for the info:
Can be purchased from BoatFix. com (one of the more reasonable priced outlets): B&G NET-ESYS ENGINE SYSTEM- $420.15 NET-ESYS

Call B&G as they are very helpful and will email you a pdf file with all the particulars. The unit works with a GM ECM unit and is very, very simple to install. It's essentially a 'repeater' from the ECM bringing the info to a display. Provides quite a bit of info.

In the meantime, here are links to two technical notes on the unit.

Thanks so much, I have a sea max engine and will look into this. It should be able to replace a floscan that I was contemplating installing.

Matt:

Added two links to the above post I made. And as I own both the FloScan and B&G and able to try 'play with' both, if you can use the B&G unit I think it does more for less cost and 'looks way cooler'. Also less effort to install. No tapping into fuel lines and making sure that the angle of the fuel lines don't contribute to inaccuracies that you can't adjust for due to calibration limitations in the FloScan unit itself.
My $.02.

How suitable would this boat be for big game fishing? I'm a master fisherman and only go for the really big game and typically land a decent catch of Mahi Mahi and was wondering how big the fish boxes are in order to keep my catch fresh?

Thanks

Elguapo:

Observing that this is your first response and your claim to that of a 'master fisherman', it should be quite obvious to you that a 25 foot boat may be of limited use to you in your pursuit of 'offshore' MahiMahi. In the event that your pursuit leads you closer to the shoreline, please don't hestiate to contact me as I feel this boat would be ideal and very capable in meeting your highest expectations in pursuing saltwater gamefish.

One could only wonder as to where and what type of boat that you use today to pursue your trophy catches. I have seen fishermen, really just boaters, fishing from boats such as SeaRay's making 'miracle' or call it 'lucky' catches, and feeling they have met the criteria of a seasoned saltwater sportsmen. I can only hope you have actually achieved much more than this.

Fair winds and a following sea...my friend.

Dear Bz

As a seasoned sportsman and captain of a number of vessels over the years I feel I am always up to a challenge. I realize that some “new” salts may not feel comfortable in certain sea conditions in a 25 foot boat, and would not venture out of lands sight, I feel however that not to be the case. Boating and fishing should be more of an experience than just trolling for bottom feeders which can be caught quite handily by almost any novice. The experience should include the challenge of fighting your prey in the most adverse of conditions. Even Santiago in his small tattered skiff shows us how one man can face the challenge of his greatest adversary and land a giant marlin. These are the very challenges which endear me to this fine sport and which hopefully you will recognize one day as you become a more seasoned veteran of this craft.

As I am currently looking to add another vessel to my current fleet I was most interested in your boat. While I understand your novice assessment that your boat would be “of limited use” in my pursuit of offshore game, I see it quite differently. I would look forward to discussing with you further how an “old salt” like myself could utilize a boat such as yours for it’s true intended calling and win numerous IGFA Big Game tournaments

Regards,
Commodore El Guapo

Excellent, excellent; Hemingway vs. New Jersey, with a few (not so) subtle shots!! Good luck on selling the boat.

Reduced price to $52,500.

All said and done, this could be yours as she sits for $48k.
Won't last long, looking to move up to bigger boat and talking trade-in. Dealer will list and (attempt) to sell for more $$ than it would cost you to make a deal directly with me.

Thanks,
