Ya...I saw the add for the 246..but it's a CC. Seems like a good price though.

The express floorplan in SoCal doesn't excite me a whole bunch either. Trailer is nice. Don't need or especially want a tuna tower up here, but apparently it comes off. Didn't have the pic of it removed in boatrader. I scoped out a '94 Express/Fish in Alameda Saturday. 2500 hours, soft top and asking $45k.....I think there's significant wiggle room...but....

I'll try calling the Santa Cruz one to see what's up.

Thanks for the leads..keep 'em coming.

I can't get 28 mph at 2800!!

At 2800 I get 20 mph. What's wrong if anything?!

I don't recall what boat you bought, but....the 246 listed above is the 230 hp vs 170 hp and it's a pocket drive vs a keel drive. If you'r down 50 hp and have more wetted surface/ lower efficiency hull, you won't get the same performance numbers.

I have a 22 wa w/ 240 yanmar. Just have 5.5 hrs on engine.

Boat is keel drive.

Didn't get performence chart w/ boat . Should I get this w/ manual?

Is this a repower? If so...from what? What were you expecting speedwise? 2800 is near the bottom end of cruise for Yanmars.

Just talking from the top of my head...I would expect more performance with 240 yanmar...perhaps you aren't propped right???

My 22wa is new. Bought last Thur.

Power is 240 Yanmar.

Haven't pushed it open yet. Still getting feel of boat. That goes for hydraulic steering too.

What can I expect?

Ifish,
you should be able to do better w/ the 240 yanmar. My 260 express with 6 cyl., 250 hp yanmar will cruise @ 3,000 rpm doing 20-21 knots. Have you gone to boatdiesel and run the prop size calculator to see if your prop is in the ball park? What is the max rpm you are getting out of the Yanmar?

I didn't think they still made keeldrives. Is the 22' an exception?

Hmm...new...you'd sure expect they'd worked out the prop. Have you contacted Palmer?

I believe your top rpm is 3400...still doesn't put you over 25 with your current numbers. I woulda thought better too. Is this speed verified by gps?

The 22' is the only keeled Shamrock still in production. Here's a useful resource for you:
