My last trip I went 82 miles & used 22 gallons 65 of the miles were cruising @ 2200 rpm's the rest trolling at 800 to 1200 rpm.It comes out to 3.72 MPG my hour meter says I ran 6.4 hrs for 3.43 gph.I think I'll use the gph in the log.

GPH @ rpm. MPG overall. That's my criteria.

If it means a lot to you to know this information, or the distances you normally travel bring you close to running out of fuel, you might want to purchase a fuel monitor.

I keep up with fuel consumption generally, so I know if my fuel delivery system is working properly. Otherwise, I don't care that much. Longest trip I've made on my boat was about 120 miles. If 94 gallons won't go that far, I am in trouble. I always have full tanks when I launch, because I always fill up when I finish a day on the water.

I'm not concerned about my consumption. My two 50's will take me to the canyon with pleanty to spare.I would like to see what the different sizes do both gas & diesel. Maybe I should have put it in general conversation.

Skipm,

These numbers were very close to my numbers with my 246wa with a 190 Yanmar. The worst I ever got was around 3 mpg and the best was slightly over 4 mpg. When I had a gas 350 in the same boat the best I ever got was 2 mpg so any way you look at it, I am close to double the economy over a gas motor. Probably never amortize the cost but It makes me feel better.

I agree Fisherofmen, when I hit the fuel dock it makes me smile & my outboard buddies frown.
