while filling my port gas tank, I'm getting a small (but noticeable) gas discharge from the transom fuel vent (NOT from overfilling; it starts almost right away).

any ideas as to the cause? starboard vent doesn't weep at all

If there's a long hose between the vent connection on the tank and the transom vent, one of its supporting clamps may have let go and now there's a sag in it and some fuel has gotten trapped in the line. When you fill the tank, air escaping thru the vent line is pushing some of the trapped fuel out the transom vent.

Check to see that the vent line runs uphill all the way from the tank to the transom vent or rises above the vent and then runs downhill to it, like an air trap in a dishwahser drain hose.
