Its more weeping than driping It started on my last trip, boat is now home, engine ready to come up for pan repair or replacement. Blasted salt water. Has anyone ever done it ?

I'm about to start the project, when the holidays are over... if I can ever summon the "want to". I have an engine pulling equipment fellow standing by, and I really do want to get this thing finished. I'm tired of looking at the boat with the tee top sitting against the transom and a blue tarp over the front half.
I just plan to replace the rusty/leaking parts and paint the heck out of the oil pan and all related attachments with several coats of Rustoleum. I have gray and black... maybe I'll stripe it.
This job sure ain't brain surgery, but it's not going to be a picnic, either.

Chas , It just pushed back about 6 other winter projects,Windlass installation , rewiring helm, filling screw holes with Marinetex & redrilling, glassing my tanks, spray rails .& some minor things.I'm going to use an enginelift to just pick it up a couple of feet to & while I have it up paint the engine.I found the tractor paint from TRactor supply holds up better than rustoleum or the marine paint. It's more flexible & doesn't chip off.

If mine will last a few years, that's good enough for me. There are no more improvement projects on this boat, for me. If I can hang on to finish the repair, she'll be going away from here, one way or another.
I don't think my health is going to support much boating, after the next week or two. I don't want to leave the wife with a major financial problem, should something happen, in the near or not to distant future.
Puzzling stuff is going on, and I'm not sure what any of it means. Doctors are only good for shrugging and charging more than BC/BS will pay.
The jerks,

Chas find another doctor , I hope everything works out for you , I'm 68 & retired also.Well today I got the engine up checked the pan , not a leak it looks like the oil change hose was weeping . Thats an easy fix. I'm going to do some paint & epoxy work on the pan & lower engine anyway .

I'm thinking about canning all doctors. I can't find any that will do anything but their standard protocols and charge more than insurance pays.
Boats are my least concern, right now.

If you were here en Puerto Rico I would do it for free. I like doing things like that for hobies. I take my engine out of the boat in less than an hour.
