I DO NOT KNOW IF I WILL GET TO COME TO THE TOURNEY, BUT I DO PLAN ON GOING OVER TO DANA ON MISSION BAY THIS WEEKEND JUST TO CHECK IT OUT. MY WIFE AND I ARE VISITING OUR SON IN SAN DIEGO. THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST TRIP THERE. I WILL WEAR MY SHAMROCK TEE, AND IF I RUN INTO ANY OF YOU I WILL BUY YOU A DRINK OR TWO, OR THREE.

I had to drink alone in Mission Bay. It was too cold and rainey to wear my shamrock shirt so I was not recognizable. San Diego is really a neat place. Lots of good food there. I would really like to live there, except the grand kids and most of our kids are over here on the east coast. Guess my west coast will have to be Floridas west coast.

This year I'm gonna have a ringer on board! This guy has been a SD long range skipper for many years, he has forgotten more about fishing than I'll ever know! I can smell the victory already!

Hey guys...

The forums now have a calendar where you can post events. For the heck of it I entered the Fish Fest III dates as an example, with a link back to this thread for details.

I thought you "event planner" types might be interested in the new feature.

Check here: http://www.fishtheclassic.net/forums/calendar.php?month=8&year=2006&c=1&do=displaymonth

Hmmm...

My spousal unit was just looking over my shoulder while I was re-reading this thread and said she'd be up for a trip to the left coast in Aug for this event (couldn't believe my ears! ).

Will more info be posted here as the time gets closer (hotels, motels, B&B's)?

We're going to post the "official annoumcement" shortly. The hotel has changed its policy in that they now only allow people who stay in their rooms to dock boats in their guest slips. We are looking into other options for those who plan not to stay in the hotel, possibly to get Sundance Marine to allow us to use their docks again. Maybe we can get hotel management to loosen up on their policy a little.

Stay tuned.

Alright Kurt! That would be great to have you and your wife make it!

Looking forward to it. I'd like to keep the boat in a slip, but sleep in my RV. Let me know what the options are when it gets closer.

I should have room for for 2-3 folks on the boat. Can sleep 1 plus myself in the RV (more if she's cute...LOL)

Kurt,

Are you talking about hauling your rig from Hatteras to California, with you wife?

Man, give that lady anything she wants.

How long do you think that trip should take?

David...

I had a custom trlr hitch designed to hook up to an Airbus A-300 and got spcl permission to do so from the FAA - USAir was very cooperative as well. :D

Nooooo... I figured that I might be able to hitch a ride with one of the "Left Coast 'Rockers" for the couple days of the Fest even if it's only to go along for the ride and see how it's done out there (or worst case, fish off a pier :p ). The wife was interested in seeing So. CA so we were thinking of heading out there a few days early or staying a few after and go tootin' around a little.

I figure for a 6000 mile R/T @ ~8 MPG on the Expedition - towing the boat, the fuel cost alone, at $3/gal (wishful thinking!), would be $2250. Pushing the driving at 600 - 800 miles/day, it would take 4 - 5 days to get out there and I wouldn't be worth the a.. room I took up after that.

BTW, I live in the Phila., PA area, not Hatteras (we vacation there every year and take the boat) but the trip to CA is about the same from either place.

Kurt,

Once we work something out for dock space with one of the sponsors, we'll announce the event. I hope to get it announced within the next week.

Once we do announce the event, get a good idea who will be participating, and determine the number of boaters that will be at the event, we will then make arrangements for sponsors and other FTC members to ride on boats during the tournament. We'll find you a ride out for some good "el bendo" action.
