Hey gurus,
I happened to find the boat which I really really like. I would like to inspect it in near future. I have never had diesel before, therefor I am looking for tips and comments to what I should be looking for.
Given:
2001 Mercruiser 4.2 D-tronic 250hp with 510 hours on it, coupled with Bravo 3 oudrive(that I had before).

Thanks in advance,

Regular maintenance and filter replacement. Good water seperating fuel filter. Good filtration and clean fuel are mandatory for good service life on diesel.
The higher revving HO 4 banger should be a good match with the B3 (for an outdrive..LOL)

hey ioffe, looks like you found your beauty! I’m not so lucky… Yet!!! :D
Try to get any reference regarding oil consumption of the engine… It’s not easy to quantify what is “more than acceptable”… try to get some info on that issue for that specific engine.

search (corrosion bravo 3) A friend has a True World w/Bravo 3 & it got so corroded in 2 years factory replaced it.I understand there is somewhat of a fix but you have to pull the boat twice a year,& replace the zinks & anodes.

I just remembered...there's an Italian made Cummins/Mercruiser that has been a real problem child. I'm not sure of the hp/displacement...but I can find out.

I had 2001 Bravo 3 already. By 2006 it was so corroded I decided not to bother anymore. However, given the right price for the boat, I would take it and replace it with 2006 Bravo 3. Regarding the powerplant, I got mixed bag of replies here. The parts are extremly expensive here in US. However EU people are very pleased with its reliability and performance.
I am still thinking whether I should persue this opportunity.
It is Parker 2520 DV (extremly clean and gourgeous). I wish it was rigged with Volvos(at least).

Never trust them EU types ;-)
Might be worth a subscription to www.boatdiesel.com before dropping coin.

I've been working with Italian "diesels" for some years (construction equipment) and I must agree that you may have a point there...
but Volvo is a good example that there are some "EU types" you can trust! ;)
