What are the makes/models that would fit into the 17 foot Shamrock. I have seen one a few years back on this site where the owner had redone entirely all the way down to polishing the prop to a mirror finish. If I remember right it was 80HP diesel which at the time I thought was way underpowered. That was before I realized higher torque made up at least some for the lower HP in diesels.

What diesel HP would be an equal-performance swap for 140HP gas?

Anyone out there have a 17 foot diesel?

Just thinking ahead, prolly a couple of years ahead.

I have a 1989 20ft cuddy with a 130 hp volvo. I cruise at about 20 mph. I've gotten it up to 30mph.

I believe the factory diesel option on the 17 was 100 hp Yanmar. May have been less, certainly wasn't over. I've never seen one, but it was in the brochure.

I looked at a 17 w/ factory install a few years back. It had, I belive, a 90 hp yanmar and was supposed to be original.
