Scratcher or anyone else with this powerplant
Cummins 2106BTA. my boat is a 1990. I was flipping through some old files and saw an advertisement directly from Shamrock regarding the 1990 26' Stalker. Configured with the 210 they get a range of 350 miles at a normal cruise of 28 mph turning a 16X17 blade at 1900 rpm's consuming 7.40 gph (w/ out use of tabs).
They go on to say a maximum 500 mile range at 17 mph consuming 3.4 gph. AND a top MPH of 34.
So....what are your specs?
VERY CURIOUS

First..the 210 is a 6BT...not a BTA. The "A" is for aftercooler and jumps this up to 250 hp and beyond.
With my ~100 gallon tanks I figure a 300 mile range. The 16x17 gives right at 1 knot for every 100 rpm in the cruise range. No way it's doing 28 mph at 1900. That's the sweetspot rpm wise but it'll be running 18-20 kt. 28 mph is about wide open at 2600 rpm.
I haven't run mine enouigh to get a dialed fuel consumption, but all my research says 3-4 mpg depending on sea conditions and how hard you run it for typical cruise rpm's.

You'll do better than that!

300 may be padded a little, biut not a whole lot.
I've only ran one long trip. 60 miles out, troll 8 hours, and 60 back. Pretty flat water for our ocean. Granted it was my first time running at night and I swerved a lot on the way out. I never did fill my tanks after that trip (transmission now pulled), but I dipped my tanks (again an estimate) and came up with 65-70 gallons used.
Off Cummins fuel usage chart the 3.5 mpg is about right given my known speeds at rpm. The boat just isn't nearly as fast as Shamrock says at given rpm's. Not in the ocean anyways.

Mine is a 6bt I get 3 plus mpg . 2200 =21 to 24 mph according to conditions. WFO 2800 = 24 to 28 ATC.& the sweetest ride on a 25 foot boat you'll ever see.My prop is stamped 16L15 but I'm not sure it's right cause it has another stamp on it . This winter I'm going to have it scoped out. Sometimes I wish I had the BTA.

Skip, your numbers are right in line with both my research and experience.
On those few FAC days I could enjoy more speed (hp), but it would come at a cost of higher idle speed that is already over 5kts.

Mistress,
Is that your idle speed....5 knots???

5-5.5 knots..yes. The idle's been turned down to 675-700. Any lower and she starts to shake.
