Below is the response from the first Florida get together post!

I will step up!!!

Peanut Island on the weekend of 4/12 and 4/13 with a rain date of 4/19 and 4/20.

If you need a hotel room please email me at kozlowski@palmbeach.k12.fl.us and in the subject put Shamrock. Tell me how many people you will have with you, if you will be trailering you boat and how big it is. I will call the local hotels and try to get group rates.

I can call a few local resturants so we can have a sit down dinner on Sat evening or we can BBQ on the island. Let me know.

I would also (weather permitting) set up a fishing tournamet for Sat morning. There are af ew local bait shops that I will try to get to donate prizes. However if we can not get prizes donated there will be a small entry fee so that we can buy prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place. We can make a Junior and Lady division.

I work at a High School that makes T-shirt so I will have some made up. Let me know your sizes. Send an email

Plenty of parking at Phil Foster and if you want to camp on Peanut Island here is a number to call for a camp site (561) 845-4445
Toll free: (866) 383-5730

If I forgot something please let me know

Mike,

Thanks again for putting this together. I'll be there with my wife and 3yr old son. As for the fishing tournament Saturday morning, count me out. My crew is not up to offshore runs, so we'll be around the island doing family stuff.

Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Following up our e-mails from last week.

I just have to wait until I know the boy's baseball schedule to see if we have that Saturday free. Being a coach, just cannot pull out of the game unless I am sure the other coaches can cover. Hopeing we do not pull the Saturday afternoon game.

It will be myself, my 2 boys (ages 10 and 5) and possibly my wife. Just want to see if she wants to try camping, or if we are going to swing a hotel for Saturday.

I think there was an article on Peanut Island in the Sun-Sentinal last fall that I'll try and track down, had some good info on it. Here is a link to the county web site:
http://www.pbcgov.com/parks/peanutisland/

Sure there will be more. Regardless, looking forward to getting up to Peanut.

A freind and I will be there. I am probably going to stay at the Sailfish Marina although they do not have trailer parking. Do you have any ideas where I could park it?

Koz, I am working on donating some fish scales. I am hoping to have a 100lb, 60lb and a 25 lb scale. I can also help with weighing the fish for the tournament if needed.

Serenity and all others,

Parking: Phil Foster is pretty safe and it is free, we have left a truck and trailer there for the weekend and had no problem. I might be able to put them at the school I work at. Big parking lot, however it is about a 20 minute ride each way to the school. I will look into parking this weekend.

Hotels: I am going to talk to the hotel this weekend and see about a group rate. I will get back to the people who have sent me emails or pm about the hotels on Sunday. I am going to go to a few places.

Thank you for the scales, that would be great.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone and can't wait for this event to kick off!!

It looks as though I will be able to donate the scales. If anyone has any artwork with the Shamrock name or log I could probably put that right on the scale. Also, I will have at least one scale IGFA certified. If someone has it as a PDF that would be great.

Every time I try and call Peanut Island to reserve a spot, I get a "full mail box".

I'll keep trying. Not sure if others are having the same problem.

Well guys I have had some family health issues lately that have pulled me away from the planning. I would love to try and pull this off but I have put this on the side burner till it clears up. I thought by now it would have fixed itself but it has not.

If someone would like to jump on it and run with it that would be great or we can move it back about two weeks and everything in my life will be cleared up.

Just let me know.

Hey Mike. Sorry to hear about the family health issues and I hope everything ends up OK.

I'd help with the planning on that different date, but the other weekend I'm in a fishing tournament here in Fort Lauderdale. Even the current set date is looking grim for me as my wife reminded me that we are leaving to take my 3 year old to see "the mouse" first thing Sunday morning for a couple of days :(. I was actually looking to see if a friend would trailer up to WPB with me first thing Sat morning, just so we could participate in the fishing, then get back home to get ready for my trip the next day.

I'm disappointed right now. I would loved to have done this but I just don't have time right now. I have to catch up with work and family matters.

I hope some one will step up!!!

My wife just told me she planned my son to be 5-yr old's birthday party for the weekend of 12-13 of April, so now I have to back out.

Maybe the timeing is just not right for a good number of us. Maybe push it back to June?

I've been silently watching this thread w/ hopes of a ready boat for the 12th so that I could crash that party!! Sorry to hear about everyone having personal issues that, of course, take priority; as I've had some myself (9month old, illnesses, honeydo duties etc..) that have kept me off track w/ the repairs. So, count me in (God willin) for the next date, & I'll offer to help in some way. Phew! Now I have time to install the new carb, wire new depth finder, retrofit new thru hull transducer, prep & paint deck, refinish some more teak, packing gland, tranny fluid change, fuel sender, 2nd bilge pump, new antennae, t-bag, bottompaint, rubrail rpair, vbauifvk vavbuidfbbvbaufvbufbvuabbbubfubfbfvbau;fbvubv etc, etc.............. I too have been quietly watching and hoping the date would be pushed back until after the first of May as we could not get back to Florida before then. Same for the other gathering Len is proposing for the "left" coast. Even if we didn't trailer the boat from north Florida, we could at least still come ourselves and meet other Florida FTC'ers. Keep trying for an alternative date.

How about Spanish River Park in North Boca for us locals one day? Accessable via boat via a small dock area, also car parking on the beach.
