I just pulled my '90 mackinaw 26 and had a good chance to inspect the hull after pressure washing...I noticed that the keel right above the prop shaft has some slight deterioration and a small vertical surface crack...nothing major. What's the procedure on this? Should I leave it alone, use some kind of epoxy, or just repair it with fabric, etc...ideas anyone? Thanks

Can you determine how deep into the glass the crack goes? The keel is made of a resin and sand composite so odds are that its superficial and that no real damage has occured. I would grind the area clean and patch with a two-part epoxy resin and 2 layers of cloth. A little more sanding and some bottom paint over it and you'll be the only one to know. No biggie. My boat has a few little "Secrets" too. Regards, Leprechaun
