I have a 91 WAC with 351 Ford, 1:1 trans, 1 1/4" shaft, 550 hours on the boat.
The shaft has a bright spot where it comes out of the hull for about 90 degrees of the diameter. It looks like it has been rubbing against the hull. I get a little shutter at slow speed in a beam sea. Is this something I should do something about? What? The shaft turns nice and does not have any unusual play in it. What is the best way to check the shaft alignment?

yOUR SHAFT HAS A SMALL WHIP IN IT. take it out if u can and have it looked at by a pro. and also recondition the prop for bout 50 bux. You probably ran over a piece of wood or something while underway and that caused either the whip in the shaft or your prop blades are outtaline either way your gonna have a helluva time trying to get the coupling off the shaft been there done that lololol good luck to ya matey....
