Hey guys,
On my new FWC system, there is a "bypass" type thermostat. Can anyone tell me how it works? It is heavy, like sinker heavy, marine brass that fits in a sleeve liner in the thermostat housing. Is much beefier than an auto type thermostat and seems capable of passing more coolant. Looking at the thermostat alone, it doesn't seal anything, so it must work in conjunction with the sleeve. Anybody know?
Cheer up, the days are getting longer....

Boog, the bypass thermostat rises up into the top of the housing and redirects the coolant through the heat exchanger. Throw it into a pot of water and watch the silver part rise up off the brass saddle.

Randy,
Thanks for the info. I'll check it out. Learn something new everyday! Now, if someone can just tell me why metal floats....
