There is a conversion kit at Skidim.com (Discount Inboard Marine) for $90.00. It claims you can convert your breaker point ignition to electronic ignition. Has anyone purchased a kit like this? If so, how difficult is the installation?
Is this the same kind of conversion I see some of you have done?

My motor is a 351 Windsor with a prestolite marine distributor. The kit I purchased was manufactured by Pertronix, and I got it from Summit Racing. It was very easy to install, it took about 15 minutes. Cost was about $70. Engine runs great, but I still keep the old points setup on board, just in case. The nice thing is that I don't have to adjust points, dwell, etc every spring. There have been times that I even had to adjust points at sea, which should all but be eliminated now!

Capnmel,
We have several dozen kits like that in stock. They are made by Prestolite for their distributor. There is no coil replacement. You unscrew the plate in the distributor, replace some springs, and reinstall. Set the timing and go fishin'. Most times you don't even need to take the distributor out (providing you can get to it in the boat).
If you like I can fax the installation diagram for the swap.
I can sell these kits for $81.00 plus freight.
