I am in the process of repowering my 1989 22 predator. I want to freshwater cool my new 351 ford. Should I mount on the front or back of the engine? Any help would be appreciated.

BD - what do you mean on the front or the back? Are you referring to the location of the Heat Exchanger? - Doesn't your boat have the Battery-holding arch over the engine? I think this would preclude mounting just about anything back there. Even tightening hose clamps would be a major PITA.
Go to either the Engineman's site here or to www.basicpowerindustries.com and look up the components required to convert your engine to FWC using the PCM (PleasureCraft Marine) components. We've done a bunch of these, including an Indmar RWC to PCM FWC conversion and it works out sweet. The PCM gear will all be accessable from the FRONT of the engine (Except for the rear hoses on the H.E., nothing's perfect), saving scrapped knunckles and mucho loud cussing later. If you need help with parts or part numbers, post here. Rgds, Leprechaun

Thanks for the advice Lep. I should have phrased my question differently. The motor is out of the boat and it is hard to visualize what things will look like. After reading the posts about the horrors of changing plugs I wanted to be certain of what I am doing. I use lighthouse marine on long island for my parts source. They are knowledgeable and very helpful. They also recomended the pcm system. My friend and mechanic has worked for marinas all his life and owned a 20 pilothouse so I feel comfortable. Of course there is no substitute for someone that has been there before. Thanks for your help.
