1. trailer bearings & grease

Have a loadrite trailer. Want to grease the wheel bearings. 1) Do I need some sort of "marine" wheel bearing grease? 2) When do I stop pumping it in?

I think you just pump up the bearing buddies till the inside plate is pressing against the top collar of the housing.
I like your nickname. Do you have a collie? My little buddy "Murphy" is an 11 yr old sable & white Shetland Sheep dog - you know, a miniature collie. Rgds, Leprechaun

The trailer does have grease fittings on the hubs but there is no plate and spring arrangement like on buddy bearings. What kind of bearing grease should I use? I took the caps off to look inside the hub. Plenty of grease in them and I want to keep it that way. There is a decal on the trailer that says the hubs have some sort of special arrangement to make sure the grease gets to the back of the hub. Ever hear of that?
Yes, we own a collie. She is also 11, weighs in at dainty 65lbs. Her name is Anastasia, Stasha for short. Prissy like you would not believe. First time we took her on a boat I had to carry her down the dock. She trembled with fear for 30 minutes in my lap, passed out and slept the whole rest of the trip.

Thanks in advance for any help with the trailer.

The spindles you have for your trailer are probably "Spindle-Lube" spindles. My friend just replaced his with them from Champion trailers. As you pump grease in, the old grease should come out the front of the hub, allowing you to repack w/o removing the wheel and hub. Check out the website for more info (www.championtrailers.com)
