CREW:
Chad Stoker, Rick Guyot, Craig Paige, and meself.
WX:
PERFECT!! Slick calm, light and variable.
BOAT:
AQUAHOLIC
REPORT:
Splashed the boat about 6 am, and promptly loaded the boat with essentials. But, obviously not all of them as you will read. Left the inlet and everyone starts to settle in for the 2 hour ride when the boat loses power. I immediatley thought bad gas or something like that. Lifted the hatch and soon realized that the belt had broken. The ESSENTIAL belt was not on board. After calling a fellow shamrock owner, quickly realized that I needed to call SeaTOW. Called Angelo and he actually thought that he might have a belt on hand. He arrives in a short manner, with a 45" belt. The size we asked for!! THANKS ANGELO! Put the belt on and motored around to make sure she was o.k. SHE WAS!!!
Ran to an undisclosed wreck 2 hours 15 minutes later and started to wear out the SEABASS!! Didn't really matter what was on the hook, they were HUNGRY!! Believe several citiations were caught today by us and another boat that was down there. I think that I have 2 weights and will weigh them later this morning. Put on the hand scale they weighed 5# 2 oz and 5# 7 oz! SEVERAL 4 pounders also. Craig caught the heaviest fish of the day, a monster that will see 6#s. He was the little engine that could. PRETTY WORK CRAIG! Pretty sure that Chad and Rick got papers also. Waiting to hear from them today.
Boat ran rough at idle, Motorhead?!? Several questions for you, if you will oblige.
Ran back to RUDEE and loaded the boat and split the catch.
Learned some valuable lessons yesterday about spare parts. HAVE THEM!!! Tools don't do that much unless you have a replacement part which is the ESSENTIAL things. Tools can be borrowed on the water, but a 45" belt is hard to come by.
PICS TO COME!
