8) Just got my 1981 center console. The engine shows a little rust on the motor mounts. Is there a forum that list post by model? I want to make sure I dont miss any mods / maintenance that should be done on this boat. Took her out last weekend. What a ride, no more outboards for me.

Hello LR - welcome aboard.

The post setup on this site doesn't work that way. When Gavin moved what he felt were the important posts over from the old board to this new format, he pulled them over and retitled them by post content.

This actually is a plus as they can all be searched by subject . . . in other words, if you want to know about fuel tanks (And who doesn't?), then you would pull up the search engine, type "Fuel tanks" into the subject field, indicate current and/or archived threads and hit the "Search" button.

Plenty comes up on all the popular issues and I promise you, no where else on the net will you find so much brand-specific info.

You see, it would be less than efficient to list posts by model or year as these boats are all fundamentally similar. Hull issues, carb issues, or about anything else apply to all the models, not a select few.

Have fun.

Welcome to the board LR. You will find lots of helpful people and info here, check the archives first as many questions are all ready answered there.

I have 1989 20' CC and my motor mounts were very rusty when I got the boat 2 years ago. I knocked off as much rust as I could with a scraper and a wire brush and then spayed them with Corrosion Block. It worked great, the motor mounts now look serviceable. I spray every couple of months to keep them from rusting. The Corrosion Block is available at West Marine, it's not cheap though.

:D thanks for the info. I will be fogging with corrosion block. I also will check the post for the gas tank issues. I think the tank is just in front of the transom. I will check to see if it looks ok. I've been very impressed with the boat so far. Gotta sell my 13ft whaler now. Thanks for your input.

It would be best to take some time off from work to go through these posts. You'll find this web site very addictive. When I first came accross this site, my productivity at work went way down for a week or two. I did finally recovered, though at 80% :D .

Definitely check your fuel tanks. Heck, you might as well repair them since you'll have them out of your boat anyways. Do a search on "richard sheppard" if you want/need a new one.

I like your avatar, nice pic. I'll testify to this site being addictive. I have read every single post since the change over to the new format (not to mention all the reading I did before), and I don't even own a shamrock (or any other boat for that matter). I come because my dad has one and I also find that much of the information they provide on engines and such crosses over into the automotive world since they are so similar (try saying that about an outboard). But, more than that I have found that all the people here are very knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to help in any way possible. Especially when it comes to their beloved boats. Enjoy all the reading you have to catch up on. :D
