On the "SHORT CIRCUIT", the fastest Mack on the North Shore--

It's Sunday morn and still dark as we approach the boat. It's too warm also but that's O.K. Holty fires up the the v-eight and it couldn't start quick enough. As if it was waiting for him. Man, 'who's our engine guy?'
As the boat left the slip, you could feel the this was a smooth rig, ready for anything. The no wake zone had passed and the engine was brought to cruise. 'Is the engine trubo charged?' Holty laughed, then went to WOT. Well, there's a name for this kinda' boat. I call it "BALLS". You can call it what ever you want.
The boat went straight to the Triangle off Eaton's Neck. It tracked beautifully in the following sea. On the second drift, the bass came over the rail. Twelve or so shorts. Then I was told to 'get the net and stand by'. I did. That fish went into the the cooler with the tail hitting one end and the head hitting the other. Holty knows...
The action slowed and he switched from drifting worms to jigging. The blue fish stared coming over the rail and we kept three choppers out of the five we caught.
It was a good day. Why would it be anyother way?
Yep, Holt knows... Bet the ranch on that.

Holty & Guts - I'm going to have to give up the chunks and make the run over to your side of the sound - just need to find the nicest Mack drifting the triangle. Got to agree w/ Guts, Holty has about the nicest (and most extensively modified) boat I've seen in a long while. More projects than I could hope to do in 10 seasons.

Hey Capt. Guts , are you looking to be my agent ??? It was an o.k. day . You know we can do better.
Hutch, the word is the fish are stacking up at bouy 15. Dropping tide is best. Just look for the fleet . Four to six ounce hammered diamond jigs will do the trick. A very slow retreive off the bottom will produce pajamas. Fast retreive for the blues. I also heard the chunkheads are picking real nice fish (25 # plus) on a consistent basis at 28c which is north of 15.

regards Holty

P.S. Holty NEVER goes over 3000 rpm.

P.S.S. Capt. Guts., please don't bet the ranch.

Thanks for the tips Holty - I'll have to give it a try next week. I guess nobody ever bucktails over there?

Never over 3,000 RPM huh? Well, I guess the fishing grounds are a short run for you. Got to admit that I usually cruise around 3,200, which is a nice easy ride for me. EXCEPT for this past Sunday (snotty day), on the way back from a great weekend of fishing out at Plum Gut and the Race. Halfway back on the 70 mile run, my wife calls and tells me, on the phone in the middle of LIS, that WE'RE HAVING ANOTHER BABY!!! Let me tell you, with news like that to get home to, my trusty Shammy was purring along at 3,800 and bringing me home through the chop at 27 kts!!! (I guess 2 hrs at that speed out of 200 can't do that much damage!)

So, got to get out fishing while I can this fall, 'cuz with one little one already and another one coming in June, next year is going to be a little busy. After looking at my 14 month old daughter though, I wouldn't change it for the world! (I apologize for the proud Daddy stuff, sometimes I just can't help myself)
