I posted a question a while back to see if there was still any hope that the fish were still out there (past 3-mile limit) or moving south. Well I guess this answers the question! :D Good day of fishing and saw Sean on the "Aquaholic" out there along with several other Shammys. Even saw a 246 with spray rails, "Mysteri". Can't remember Joe's last name.
A big thank you to my fellow dockmate Stan on the "Blind Date" for getting the first hand info and sharing.
The boys had a good time and some soar arms today!

Nice looking catch!! What did you get them on? I won't be seeing fish like that for another 5 months or so. How long will the bite last down there? You must be fishing pretty deep water if you are past the 3 mile limit....Very impressive

Any time, Mike. Glad to put you on the fish, as you have done in the past for me.
We ended up with our limit of 32-36 inch fish, then went to a wreck for tautog. We kept 17 nice tog, and released a few more. Unfortunately, we kept what would have been two release citations. The fish were just over 23 inches, which is release citation length. Unfortunately, we thought it was 24. Oh well, tog tastes better than paper.
Hope we get a few more good days before they head the rest of the way south.

Congratulation Mike they are some nice fish and I believe your fishing is going to get better. I had several friends fishing out of Wachapreague this past weekend. On Saturday 4 boats went out had their limit in less than an hour, every boat had at least 1 citation the largest fish was 47 pounds. So I believe some big fish are still heading your way.

Holty - We cannot (and do not) fish past the three mile line as this is federal waters and the season is closed there. Catch and release is even prohibited, but that is a topic that is much debated. We caught them on everything. The white Tomic lure and green/yellow/white spoon were good as well as the red & white Stretch 25 and charteuse stretch 25. Mojos caught a few fish too. We were trolling four lines. Two wirelines on the bottom and the two stretches on the outriggers.
Stan - Congrads on the Tog. That wind sure did pick up in the afternoon. May end up Tog fishing next weekend if the weather pushes the fish south.
Frank - Thanks for the heads up. I had heard there was a lot of big fish up there and even know at least one guy that made the run from down here to try for them. What's your boat status? Did you get any BFT in Nov. before they closed the season?

Mike I did not get a chance to tuna fish this fall I was in the process of selling my boat and now BIG DADDY II is sold and I am working on getting another boat, a little bit bigger to make those offshore trips a little more comfortable. Hope to see you out the in the offshore grounds this summer

PE,
Nice pics of fish!
Have you been fishing down near Oregon Inlet lately?
I'm heading down this weekend to do some surf fishing and was wondering what the Stripers were hitting on, and if they were still around.

We caught fish 4 miles north of the Currituck/Corolla Light and near the NC/VA line last Sunday. I am sure there are fish dow nthat way too. Might try a phone call to one of the local tackle shops. Red Drum in Hatteras has a pretty good web site that stay up to date on reports. Not sure of the URL off the top of my head.
Good luck.

We were looking at that web site and some others, Looks like the Stripers have moved out to deeper water for the time being, so we canceled.
I do appreciate the input.
After I've had a chance to do some scouting for boat launches and places to stay out there and the weather turns warm again, might see you out there.
