Pat: Superior Engines. 503-284-9116. I haven't gotten out for Kings this winter. Shoulder injury and a bunch of engines parts rattling around in the oil pan. I was going to go with the Chevy, but the change over was going to make it more expensive then sticking with Ford. Plus I already have a new starter, carb, fuel pump for the 351. Good luck.

It's probably this Ford Racing 351W Sportsman block with a standard 4" bore. That engine is stroked to 4" (normal 351W stroke is 3.5") bringing its displacement up to 402 CID.

They are available from Ford Racing (or their dealers):

Dang Quick don't you ever rest???

I had big ideas about finding a aluminum block w Cast iron sleeve, aluminum heads. I was going to build a good strong torquer till I found the price of aluminum components. It is amazing how fast I can come back to reality when the $$ came into play.

Supposedly, Michigan motors has 351 Long blocks that they bought ford out of in '96. All oiled and in bags, pickled but brand new.

They do not advertise it I think if I remember. I got the info on the phone.

This from Michigans Site:

About Ford Marine Engines

Ford marine engines are no longer produced or used by any marine engine manufacturer or boat company. 1996 was the last year that Ford produced marine engines such as the 351ci and 302ci engine. Some boat manufacturers continued to install the Ford 351W engine up to 2001 because of their excellent low end torque.

Michigan Motorz carries brand new (made in 1996) 351W base marine engines and a complete line of Ford remanufactured marine engines.

Call (248) 524-9600 for price and availability.

If that's the last word on new Ford blocks, we're back to GM blocks or nothing gas into the future. I hope Ford reconsiders because when there's no competition, the prices are going to go up on the GM based stuff.

I hear you. GM may drop the 350 some day as well, leaving only the 6.0

I would like the 6.0, but until I get some serious feedback on the mileage, the 350 it is.
